I was wondering if there would be a way to do one of the following:

a) make it so there is a white background behind all of that content BUT NOT the header (when i add a background to the wrap, it extends to the header too and ruins its transparency…)

OR

b) Adjust the length of the columns so they all line up evenly

But, the last two times the comic has been auto posted it doesn’t show up in the home page of the site. It does show up in the archive and when I am signed into my account it shows up on the homepage. But, if I am logged off or if anyone else looks at my homepage they are greeted with a blank spot and a notice saying the comments are off.

The first batch of 20 comics were all uploaded at once so I don’t know why these middle pages are now not working. I looked over the posts and everything seems to look right so I am at a loss.

Any help would be appreciated.

I’m trying to solve a couple of issues for my soon to be “launched” webcomic at www.giantenemycomic.com

-On my “comics” page. It doesn’t display the actual comic navigation, I have to click on a thumbnail. I need the page to automatically display my comic. -Is there a way to display the comic on the “large” setting and not it’s natural fullscreen because my scans are WAY too large.

I’m trying to integrate my cartoon into my blog. I’ve activated the webcomic plugin, checked the integrate with current theme box, and attempted to publish a comic. The publishing process goes well enough, but it to does not show up in the blog stream, and when I hit the preview button I get a 404 error.

Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?

Notice the image footers are set to the left, and in normal font. I want such text aligned to the center of the image, in a slightly smalled font size and in cursive.

I downloaded the latest WP release 3.3.2 and then setted the site up… (db, theme, etc.) Then I down- and then up-loaded webcomic plugin in the plugin directory on my ftp… It appears in Plugins, so no problem so far.

But when I activated it and then went to its tab in admin panel, I got some error, I looked up in google, saw it should go away if I upload some strip… So I made some test-collection, test-storyline, etc. I try adding or uploading some strips… And the strip appears in the homepage, but the webcomic tab panel in admin stay free of anything… It’s just empty ! And I still got that error. I want to remove the titles, dates, tags etc from my posts. I used ARTICLE {DISPLAY: NONE;} in style.css before with Inkblot, but I integrated Webcomic with a WordPress theme using the automatic integration option, and now that code doesn’t seem to work.

Also, where is the loop for the webcomics? It’s not in index or any of the loop.php’s (this theme uses them).

I’m trying to set up a webcomic site for my daughter and we’re having issues with archive creation. I’ve used the plugin on my own comic and it works fine.

I’ve tried deleting and recreating the posts, I’ve deleted and reinstalled the plugin. But every time when the previous link is pressed there’s a 404, or if I try and connect to the permalink from the WP admin section I get a 404.

Webcomic is the only plugin active at the moment and it’s the latest version of WP 3.3.1, and Inkblot Child 3 is the theme.

1) Is there a way to turn off/remove the built-in character, author and entire collection archive links. I’d rather uses my own pages for this (or the case of the archives – storylines). I’ve modified the “footer” area so that those links are removed or changed, but you can still manually go to “blog.com/character/name” or “blog.com/collection/name” etc and I’d like to prevent that and just return a 404 instead just in case someone tries to access those pages when I don’t plan to use them or modify the CSS so they look nice etc.

2) Just out of curiosity, is there shortcode for the character / author information (desc etc)?

3) I know there is a way to see the archive for storylines (blog.com/storyline/name) and the whole collection (blog.com/collection/name), but is there a way to see just the storylines themselves. Something like “blog.com/storyline/webcomicname” and have it just list the storylines, their covers and descriptions that then link to the storyline archive (blog.com/storyline/name)?

4) Is there way to rename storyline to chapter?

5) Finally, using inkblot as my base theme, I noticed that their isn’t a “footer” widget area, so I’m using “Page Below”, but when using multiple widgets it just stacks them on top of each other. I’m still learning CSS etc, is there a way to line them up in columns instead so they are next to each other?

I’m sure some of these things are rather obvious or maybe even not possible, but thanks for any help you can give. I really like this plug-in, I just have a couple things that I’d like to customize and I’ll be set, though I’m sure I’ll have more questions soon. :P

As you can see, the comic navigation links repeat twice. Also, the more important problem is that when people click on the archives, on the left widget area, the comic volumes start at the last comic. For example, if people want to read Volume 2 of my comics, it would logically make more sense that they read comic one of Volume 2 first.

I’m not sure if these are problems with Webcomic specifically, or with the integration of my theme Coraline and webcomic, but any help would be appreciated. =]

If there’s a way to create a character list page using this same grid/side-by-side system, that would be really great, because I have a ton of characters and listing them one under the other makes for way too much scrolling. (Yeah, I know that if I listed them by name rather than by picture it wouldn’t be an issue, but I want the pictures. I worked hard on them!)

I also want to know if there’s a way to display a webcomic page’s title on top of the image, under the menu, rather than underneath the page and above the author’s comments.

And last: I hid/erased the Random comic nav button, but now the remaining buttons kind of moved to the left, and it makes the page look lopsided. I want to know if there’s a way to add a Read Comments/Number of Comments button in its place, or at least add an image or blank space in the area to push the next and last/current buttons back to the right. (I tried adding several & emsp ; but it didn’t change anything.)

Using the above code in functions.php will change my URL slug from “archive” to “collection1.” Would it be possible to return a different slug, such as “collection2,” when the current comic is part of my second collection? Could I use some variable like maybe { return ‘%collection%’; } ? I’m curious to see your feedback on this subject. It would be wonderful if I could do this, but if it’s not possible I’ll just install WordPress and/or Webcomic a second time. :)

“Comic” is the category that was made for my comic series. I’ve been having one trouble after another setting things up for webcomic 3 and would really like to get this settled. Thanks for any help.

When I saved webcomic.php and refreshed my page, everything magically disappeared except for my header. I changed the file back and then my page came back, so I guess my syntax must be bad.

I searched the forum here for examples (we should add examples to the wiki imo) and I found the one below for changing the link text.

Following that example, my next attempt looked like this:

random_webcomic_link( ‘webcomic_storyline’, 24 );

That also didn’t work, and I figured it wouldn’t since there is no way to determine if 24 refers to $terms or $id. Does anyone have an example of how I could specify to use only comics from storyline 24 when people click Random? Thank you!

I found some code in Inkblot’s functions.php which seems to be grabbing a page title, but there are a number of vertical bar characters and I can’t follow the logic very well. (Usually if I read the code aloud it tells me what it does, but in this case it’s too confusing for me!) Would someone please tell me where I can swap out the vertical bar to use a bullet instead? Thank you!

I’m no CSS pro, but I usually get things done with a bit of trial and error, but here I’m totally stumped.

1. I use Disqus for comments, and Disqus keeps track of which comments go where based on the URL. If I have two URLs for the same comic ( /archive/123 and /home ), the comments will not be displayed on the same page even though they’re commenting on the same strip. Further…every time the comic updates, all the old comments on the Webcomic Home are no longer relevant to the comic displayed on that page.

2. Instead of a normal comic post, my “First” comic is a page where an animation plays. I changed the “First” target in webcomic.php to go directly to the URL of that page…

…but now I need to put a “Latest” button on the animation’s page to point to the actual page for the latest comic post. I would prefer not to hard code it to a direct path, because I would then need to change the first page every time I update the site with a new comic.

The Relative Webcomic widget gets me the link I need, but I can’t get it on the same line as my “Next” link. I want it to look like it’s the same navigation object on all the other pages, spanning the width of my page both above and below my embedded video.
